Mrs. Sheppard serves as the Director of the Mary Ann Flunder Summer S.T.E.A.M. Sports & Arts Camp. The camp serves as our ongoing promise to Mrs. Mary Ann Flunder (March 8, 1934-March 24, 2016) whose tireless community activism engaged urban youth and teens to focus on getting their education. Especially when it came to going on to college. Areas of development include: SEL (Social Emotional Leaning), T.H.I. (Trauma Healing Institute), Abstinence Until Marriage (sex, drugs, alcohol, bullying and violence) and Adaptive Leadership (Kansas Leadership Center, Wichita, Ks)

Mrs. Sheppard believes that "sports and the arts serve to allow KCU! to make connections with students...where they are. Our goal is to then engage them that every aspect of their lives are impacted in a positive/holistic way. All the while equipping them at a higher level to compete in the classroom as well as on the field/court".

KCU! initially started the summer sports and arts camp in 2016 with 6 young men. In 2017 we expanded to 29 participants (boys and girls). In 2018 KCU! partnered with KCKCC and our scope expanded to over 120 participants (elementary, middle and high school)
